The short answer
| Option | Time | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport bus | About 30–40 min | About 200 MKD (≈ €3.30) | Light luggage, daytime arrivals |
| Taxi from the rank | 20–30 min | About 1,500 MKD (≈ €25) to the centre | Arriving without a booking |
| Private transfer | 20–30 min | From €30 per car, fixed in advance | Late flights, families, groups |
By airport bus
The airport bus runs between the airport and the city, with stops in the centre and at the main bus and train station. Departures are timed around flights, so the timetable changes with the season: check it on the airport's website before you fly. Tickets are cheap, but room for large suitcases is limited.
By taxi
Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall. The fare to central Skopje is fixed, at about 1,500 denars (around €25), rather than metered; agree the price before you set off if you are going further. When several flights land together, the queue can take a while.
By private transfer
A driver waits inside arrivals with your name on a sign, follows your flight if it is early or late, and takes you to the door at a price fixed when you book. For one or two people it costs a little more than a taxi; for a family or a group with luggage, a van is often cheaper per person.
Tips for arriving at SKP
- There are cash machines in the arrivals hall. The local currency is the denar; euros are widely accepted, but change usually comes in denars.
- Skopje is on Central European Time, the same as most of Europe.
- Travelling on to Ohrid, Pristina or Thessaloniki? You can go straight from the airport without stopping in the city.
